Why are the Sorbents used in workshop spill kits different to those used in marine spill kits?

Sorbents used in Workshop spill kits are slightly different to those use in Marine Spill Kits primarily because in the marine environment ‘containment’ of the spill is so much harder than it generally is for land based spills. Vehicle and Workshop spill kits generally contain sorbents that can be used to contain and clean up a spill simultaneously.

It should be noted that the absorbent spill kits listed below are perfectly suited for use in a vehicle or a workshop. The larger spill kits can also be used as mobile spill stations and many of the absorbents contained in the spill kits are multipurpose sorbents.

Please remember that if you are working in a workshop where a lot of cutting oil is used then your workshop may be better off choosing a ‘marine spill kit’. The sorbents used in a marine spill kit would probably be more suited to oil spill response involving a mix of oil and water that occurs when machinery such as metal lathes are used.
