An Anti Static Wrist Strap, or Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Wrist Strap, or ground bracelet is an antistatic device used to safely ground a person working on very sensitive electronic equipment. They are specifically designed to prevent the build-up of static electricity on their body, which can result in electrostatic discharge (ESD). Grounded wrist straps are used:

In the electronics industry by workers working on electronic devices which can be damaged by ESD.

By people working around explosives to prevent electric sparks which could set off an explosion.

Those working with potentially explosive liquids that could be ignited by an ESD (e.g. in and around fuel pumps)

The Anti Static Wrist Strap itself (sometimes referred to as an Anti-Static Bracelet) consists of a stretchy band of fabric with fine conductive fibres woven through the material. The band is attached to a wire with a clip on the end to connect it to a ground conductor. The fibres are usually made of carbon or carbon-filled rubber, and the strap is bound with a stainless steel clasp or plate. They are usually used in conjunction with an antistatic mat on the workbench, or a special static-dissipating plastic laminate on the workbench surface.

Directions fo Use:

The Anti Static Wrist Strap is usually connect to Earth Bonding Points (part of the grounding system) via either a 4 mm plug or 10 mm press stud, whereas personally owned straps are likely to be connected to ground via a crocodile clip.

The Anti Static Wrist Strap, anti-static wrist band or anti-static wrist bracelet is usually worn on the non-dominant hand (the left wrist for a right-handed person). It is connected to ground through a coiled retractable cable and 1 megohm resistor, which allows high-voltage charges to leak through but prevents a shock hazard when working with low-voltage parts.

Where higher voltages are present, extra resistance (0.75 megohm per 250 V) is added in the path to ground to protect the wearer from excessive currents; this typically takes the form of a 4 megohm resistor in the coiled cable (or, more usually, a 2 megohm resistor at each end).

Custom Made Anti Static Wrist Bands

Anti Static Wrist Straps can be supplied in a variety of core conductors:

Standard copper strands as is the case in the of our stock products which you can order by simply clicking the link above.

Tinsel strands which have a vastly superior flex life than plain copper strands.

There is also a range of:

single core,

extra-flexible coiled power cables,

with improved ‘spring’.

Anti Static Wrist Strap – Specialist Options:

Built with a purpose, these particular coiled cables meet the specific needs those companies working in the electronic manufacturing sector and designed to reduce operator static. Typical examples include:

Rotomolded Ice Chests are now one of the most common types of pinic and 4WD accessories bought.

As a result you will find nearly every major Hardware Chain, Auto Parts supplier and major retailer has at least one size in a Rotomolded Ice Chest available for sale.

Because the range is so wide it becomes somewhat confusing when it comes to choosing the right rotomoulded ice chest to meet you needs. Regardless of whether you are buyin as in individual of for a company the selection criteria should follow the same general guidelines:

What size of rotomolded ice chest do I need?

How long does the ice chest need to keep my food cold.

How likely or otherwise is it that my rotomolded ice chest will be used in areas where safety is a concern.

How to select the perfect Rotomolded Ice Chest?

Apply the 80:20 rule i.e. in 80% of the tmes you need to use your Rotomolded Ice Chest how much food will you need carry and how long will you need to keep it cold? If the answer is that you are after a ‘premium grade’ lunch box then a 27lt Ice Box Cooler will do a great job for you. If it is mainly for you and a friend then step up one size to say a 48lt Ice Box Cooler.

Now if fishing or camping is your game then you need to look to the larger rotomolded ice chest. Make sure you pay extra to get the insulation you need. A cheap rotomolded ice chest is often cheap because it often lacks the proper amount of insulating foam. Or alternately has none in the lid area. There is no point in shelling out a couple of humdred dollars for the size you need only to find that it has very little refrigeration foam and as such may last a day at best. On the other hand if you plan half day trips and want something cost effective for carying a bite to eat and a ton of fish then having a box that provides 10 days of cold is really not necessary.

The next trap people and companies fall into is buying the biggest that they can find. If the rotomolded ice chest you are buying is to be used by teams working on a work site, mining, industrail areas you need to make sure that it conforms to OH&S standards i.e.:

Is the colour sufficiently bright enough for low light levels (undergorund, indoors or at night)?

Does the size and fully packed carrying weight require 2 people to lift the rotomolded ice chest?

Will a large ice chest fit into the vehicles you have easily to allow it to be moved easily?

Whilst these three considerations are important to larger businesses with large work teams they are equally important to the individual who loves fishing, camping or 4WD’ing.

As I am sure everyone realises that for the very reasons listed above there are some sizes of ice chests that are very popular and some which are less so. Because we work closely with the manufacturers we know which sizes, shapes and styles are selling best and why.

What is a Rotomolded Ice Box Cooler?

As kids growing up in Australia there was only one ice box cooler on the market and that was called an Esky. If you live in New Zealand the ice box cooler is known as a Chillybin (or Chilly bin) and in North America they are called ice chests. Now-a-days even in Australia there are hundreds of ice box coolers available in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

The Science of an Ice Box Cooler.

It is probably no surprise that what was once little more than a plastic box with handles and a lid is now far more sophisticated than the humble Esky we used to take to the cricket as kids. In fact a good ice box cooler now has a bunch of features:

Rotomolded super tough plastic,

fantastic for manufacturing larger hollow products,

very little raw material is wasted which is great for the environment,

the process lends itself to making very durable items,

the elasticity of the material is retained in the final product (i.e. can take a knock without splitting).

Comparing one Ice Box Cooler to another:

Regardless of which Ice Box Cooler you are considering buying there is one thing you need to know before you consider anything else and that is: Will this ice box cooler keep my food cold? Clearly a good ice box cooler will have a super tuff shell but if it does not contain sufficient refrigeration foam then it does not matter how hard the shell is the ice will melt and the food will heat up. A properly made rotomoulded ice box cooler will keep your food cold for between 4-16 days depending on the type of refrigeration foam used and the thickness of the refrigeration foam.

Cheap ice box coolers are cheaper because:

they use little or no foam,

don’t put foam in the lid or base,

have inferior clasps, hinges and seals so the lid does not lock in the cold properly.

To look at these cheap boxes you would not know they are not every bit as good as the more expensive brands. Some expensive brands also cut corners to compete with cheapies and produce a ‘budget range’. Seriously don’t do it. One case of food poisoning, constantly having a wet back seat or boot every time you use the thing, your fish don’t make it home etc. and you’ll be throwing the thing in the bin having wasted your $50 bucks.

If you want a great ice box cooler the places like Bunnings have some excellent choices. For less than $100 you can get a 48lt best of the best which is a great all-round size for family picnics and on boats.

However if you want to buy in bulk (i.e. 100 units or more) then we can help you to buy not from a wholesaler but with directly from one of the largest rotomolded ice box cooler manufacturers in the world.

Why buy ice boxes direct from the Manufacturer?

Size, colour, promotional logos etc are all at your finger tips.

Ideal for companies who would prefer workers to have the same size shape and colour for OH&S reasons.

Workers using 70lt boxes with poor visibility colours not only risk doing themselves a back injury there is a very real risk they will endanger others on any work sites.

Standardising the size, quality and colour of your worksites ice box cooler is a sensible addition to best practise OH&S for:

Mines,

Large industrials,

Shipping fleets,

Building sites,

Railway workers,

A Disposable Drip Tray can be use for a variety of uses.

No doubt you have seen an oil absorbent drip tray before. But what you may not have seen before is a Disposable Drip Tray.

These absorbent pads are made from spun bonded polypropylene absorbent materials.

The white perforated side is designed to absorb oil and fuel type spills whilst the black underside provides a protective barrier that prevents oil getting to the bench or floor underneath.

Disposable Drip Trays are incredibly useful:

Under motor cars.

Under BBQ’s to protect wooden decks. Just be aware they are flammable so best used with gas burners so embers are not an issue.

Under fridges.

In Ambulance stations.

In Fire Brigade Stations.

Under Army tanks and all terrain vehicles.

As comfort matting when working under vehicles.

At the site of a break down.

Under generators.

Under outboard and inboard boat motors.

Under paint tins.

On benches under any type of canister or drum you can think of.

Available in rolls which can be ‘cut to size’ for larger machinery e.g. conveyor belts, trucks and earth-moving equipment.

In fact almost anywhere a motor is stored or sits for any length of time an absorbent disposable drip tray is handy.

Having a disposable drip tray means they are easy to position. Just sit them under drip, in a parking bay or place the drum or container directly on top of the drip tray to keep the floor and bench clean and dry. Most often vehicles and even drums and canisters are stored in almost the same spot every day so by protecting a relatively small area you can save on a lot of wasted time and money by simply using a disposable drip tray.

Cheeta used pallet jack $2200 including GST.

We have one hardly used pallet jack hand lift trolley. New these retail for over $4500 so this is a bargain.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y-geh4m0f4

The Cheeta is very compact and easy to store. It takes up no more space than a standard hand trolley.

A Cheeta is a battery powered hand trolley which acts as a multipurpose lifting assistant.

The Cheeta makes moving heavy and difficult items a simple one person job.

Cheeta has a unique battery / chain drive system which makes it ideal for lifting up stairs, onto platforms, onto the trays of utilities and small trucks.

This unique ‘stair climbing’ and lifting capacity means that a single person can lift so much more than they could ever hope to lift on their own or with a traditional hand trolley.

The Cheeta is made of heavy duty materials which makes it incredibly tough. Having a machine that replaces the need for two people reduces your costs and increases you productivity.

Cheeta products are made in Australian so replacement parts are readily available.

Australian manufacture and an Australian base also ensures that there are no delays or difficulties in after sales service or additional parts.

Features:

Heavy duty construction making it suitable for commercial and industrial applications.

Load lifting plate and load retaining frame help keeps your loads stable and reduces any unnecessary movement.

Load sensing device ensures the machine will not operate when overloaded.

Lifting Chain encased in a chain guard for added safety.

What is the difference between a Vehicle Spill Kit and a small Workshop Spill Kit?

Quite often there is little or no difference between a Vehicle Spill Kit, a small Workshop Spill Kit and a Marine Spill Kit. In fact they can often be used in a variety of situations. Most individuals and companies tend to apply the 80:20 rule when it comes to spill kits i.e. 80% of the time the spill will be a particularly type (e.g. fuel, oil etc.) and that spill is most likely to occur on the land or on or near water. The sorbents you chose to contain and recover the spill should be based on those two criteria.

So a typically spill kits and the sorbents inside the kits are matched to the type and location of the spill that is most likely to occur. In general terms sorbents come in one of three types:

Polypropylene products are ‘oil only’ hydrophobic or ‘water only’ hydrophilic sorbents.

Organic materials which tend to do a bit of both.

Mineral based ‘kitty litter’ type products.

Spill kits are described by virtue of how much of a spilt liquid they will absorb i.e. a 30lt oil spill kit has enough sorbent material to soak up 30lt of oil or fuel.

You do need to be very careful however because whilst the spill kit may be designed for a 30lt spill there is a lot of guess work in the calculations.

Things like temperature, the type of liquid spilled etc. all change the overall capacity of the sorbents. Polypropylene, for example, does a very poor job of collecting 30 weight motor oil so when designing your Workshop Spill Kit keep this in mind.

Having a large spill kit on hand is always better than having one that is too small.

Marine Spill Kits

Are largely designed for spills that will most likely occur on or near water.

Generally these types of spills require very rapid containment.

You will need an absorbent material that will sorb hydrocarbons (oil, fuel, diesel etc.) and not water.

Commonly polypropylene is the most widely used material in a Marine Spill Kit.

Usually most companies prefer to carry a number of longer ‘sasuage style’ floating containment barriers called ‘socks’ or ‘booms’ (booms being larger).

Vehicle small Workshop Spill Kit

Are the typical Workshop Spill Kit more ‘general purpose’.

Usually contain loose particulate sorbents and absorbents. Products with more of a ‘powdery’ consistency which you can spread over a spill and then sweep or shovel up.

Socks are also usually included.

It is a good idea to have a strong carry bag so you can get the spill kit to the spill.

Now-a-days most companies prefer an organic absorbent as it is a much better environmental choice.

Organic absorbents absorb far more than mineral and polypropylene based sorbents.

Most vehicle spill kits are designed to pick up about 50lt or less. Occasionally an 80lt kit will be used in a vehicle but it is large and requires storage.

Vehicle spill kits and small Workshop Spill Kits are often exactly the same.

Workshop Spill Kit or Spill Station

the typical larger Workshop Spill Kit or Spill Station is usually contained within a 120lt or 240lt heavy duty Wheelie Bin

it contains multiple Polypropylene Pads & socks

multiple bags of a good organic sorbent like Absorbent 15 Floor Sweep

Waste disposal bags and a Dust Pan & Brush

And an instruction sheet

You can also use an 80lt kit bag but again the flexibility of being able to take the products you need to the site of a spill in a strong wheelie bin makes this the preferred choice of mos workshops. If a truck or delivery vehicle breaks down you can easily put a wheelie bin in the back of a small van or ‘ute’ and take it to the site of the breakdown. Wheelie bins are also ‘weather resistant’. In terms of weight an 80lt kit can be getting up to and over 20kg (depending on what you have in the bag) so you need to consider that aspect when you are making your buying choice.

When deciding on what type of spill kit you need try to work on 3 things:

How large is a typical spill?

Where is that most likely to occur?

What is my back-up plan for a very large spill?

Then design your Workshop Spill Kit and Spill Stations to cover you for both scenarios. If you are in any doubt there are experts who will audit you work site and make sure you have the right protection in place. A good auditor will also have a liability insurance in place to ensure that if they don’t get it right you are left with the bill.
